Richard Dawkins on 'Have Your Say'

In this video segment, professor Richard Dawkins, the outspoken atheist who says science explains the world better than religion, was a guest on the British program, Have Your Say.

Pope Benedict attacked atheism in his latest encyclical. He said it is responsible for some of the "greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice," adding that "man needs God, otherwise he remains without hope."

Professor Dawkins responded, "many of us saw religion as harmless nonsense ... September 11th 2001 changed all that. Revealed faith is not harmless nonsense, it can be lethally dangerous nonsense."

Did God invent man or did man invent God? Does religion stoke conflict or help to avoid it? Is it possible to have hope without belief? Does science provide more answers than religion? Is atheism a religion? Professor Richard Dawkins responds to these questions and more in the Have Your Say video (75.5 MB Quicktime download).
