Video: The ethics of lifespan pills

David Ewing Duncan stresses some of the ethical issues raised by the availability of lifespan extension pharmaceuticals. Duncan situates this development in his idea that a new "subspecies" of humans has already developed since 1900 -- then, the average lifespan was 47, now it's "north of 80 and increasing every year."

David Ewing Duncan is an award-winning, best-selling author of six books and numerous essays, articles and short stories, and a television, radio and film producer and correspondent. He is the co-host of NPR's Biotech Nation. David is a Contributing Editor to Wired, and Discover, and a science columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, a commentator for NPR's Morning Edition and co-host of BioTech Nation on NPR.
