
Despite not commenting all that much on the subject matter alluded to in the title of his keynote speech, "The Next 20 Years of Gaming," famed inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil commanded the rapt attention of a packed house at the Game Developers Conference.
Kurzweil argued that terms we use in the gaming industry, such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and even "games" themselves are no longer appropriate. We are nearing a tipping point where artificial intelligence becomes actual intelligence. Kurzweil predicts, using information lines honed over many years of analysis, that in 2010, we will have computers able to simulate the human brain.
