This is the fifth order under the $286 million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) xBot contract, which will deliver spare parts and accessories for iRobot's PackBot 510 with FasTac Kit. Orders to date under PEO STRI's xBot contract for robot units and spare parts now total $50.3 million.
The PackBot 510 with FasTac Kit, currently in use in Iraq and Afghanistan, investigates suspicious objects and identifies roadside bombs and other improvised explosive devices (IEDs), as well as unexploded ordnance, while keeping troops at safe standoff distances. This new order will provide the Army with updated controllers, manipulators and cameras for the robot.
"The PackBot 510 with FasTac Kit has proven itself to be a valuable tool for our troops, helping them to safely identify roadside bombs and other improvised explosive devices from safe distances," said Joe Dyer, president of iRobot Government and Industrial Robots. "This contract for spare parts to our PackBot 510 with FasTac Kit is critical to ensuring that the robot can perform its missions while keeping our soldiers out of harm's way."
iRobot has delivered more than 1,800 PackBot robots that make a difference everyday by conducting dangerous missions that keep warfighters out of harm's way.
