It seems that clear thinking and decisiveness are in need of a boost these days. As a society we must debate and come to terms with stem cell research, artificial life and artificial intelligence—because these areas of study are progressing faster than many realize. More and more, we are taking the reins from nature and are becoming who we wish to become. It is imperative that our ethical systems keep up with—yet at the same time do not hinder—scientific progress.
